So Easy! So Cute!

Are you ready for the easiest project ever?

I got the directions from the blog Skip to My Lou from this post.

I followed the directions pretty exactly. A few things that I learned along the way-- Hobby Lobby is the best...I am sorry if you don't have one near you. I got most of my supplies there. Some tips:

  • They have the crocheted headbands in the last two pictures there for 99 cents!

  • The stretchy headband she is wearing the first picture was $1.99

  • Buy a "bouquet" of flowers on sale. I got a bouquet from $3.98 because it was 50% off and it gave me 6 or 7 good flowers to use for the project.

  • When you are looking for clips, look for alligator clips. I bought 2 sizes. Each pack was $1.47 and came with about 10.

Once I got going I whipped out a flower clip in about 5 minutes. You will need wire cutters to cut off the flowers. I used scissors to weaken the wire and then just broke off the flower. Then you will remove the petals (so they are loose, not attached to one another). Keep them in order, so you don't have to spend time putting them back. Hot glue the petals back together and glue a rhinestone/button/whatever to the center of the flower.

You could glue the flower directly to the hair clip, but it looks nice if you glue ribbon to the hairclip first, like the blog post at the beginning suggests. After the ribbon is glued to the clip, then you can glue the flower to the hair clip. Then you're done!

I did 4 flowers in about 20 minutes. I also bought 4 colors of the crocheted headbands and 2 colors of the stretchy headbands. So here is a math problem for you. If I have 4 flower hair clips, 4 crocheted heabands and 2 stretchy headbands-how many flower/headband combinations can I make?

You could also make this project even cheaper by going to a thrift store to buy silk flowers. I saw them in DI in Provo all the time. Once you have the supplies, this is such an inexpensive, cute project. Perfect for baby shower gifts, birthday gifts, projects for your own little girl, or anytime gifts!

My model showing off a few of the flower/headband combos:

This next one is blurry because she was getting bored of modeling! Ha.

One last thing, the only downside to buying a bouquet of silk flowers is you end up with a bunch of the same flower, in different colors. But it is more economical that way and still very cute!

Under Construction...

I am in the process of designing this blog how I want it...so there might not be anything interesting up for a couple of days :)

Pinterest.

Find me on Pinterest! And let me know if you are on it. If you want to be invited, let me know. This is the perfect place for my organized self to organize my miscellaneous love of all things.

Trying Again...

Somehow, I cannot get to my old/new blog "Happiness, My Heritage." Sad day. Except for it's a nice coincidence because I wasn't really loving it. Of course, I still believe in being happy. But I like this better, because I feel like I can post anything I want and it doesn't always have to be about being happy! So we'll see how this goes!
